A Note from Fred Linton, Funksion Organizer

"People have mentioned to me over the past few years that I should put together my own band. I have organized groups in the past, and believed that this experience might assist me in constructing a project of this type. I knew that if I did, it would have to be a group which included a tight rhythm section, full horn section, along with both male and female vocals. It would also have to be a band that could play funk, rock, blues, and jazz. I have always wanted to do this, but was not sure if I would be able to find enough interested people. I mentioned the idea to a few people, and got an overwhelmingly positive response. I finally decided to give it a shot, and this project has produced results far beyond my expectations. The members of this group come from a wide variety of musical backgrounds and experience, and are some of the best musicians with which I have ever played. We have chosen to perform music which is technically challenging, utilizes the instrumentation (horn section), is marketable and fun to play."
